You just got engaged and there are a lot of things to consider. Where will the ceremony take place? How many people will you invite? How do pick the right vendor team to make sure your wedding goes as perfectly as possible? Weddings are wonderful, but can be stressful at times so it is a great idea to put together a great group of professionals (who you will find also act as your "stress management team").
One of the last items on many couples list is to find their wedding officiant. According to a recent poll, 44 percent of couples in 2022 decided to ask a friend or family member to officiate their wedding. If this is something you are considering, read "Before you Ask" to make sure this is the right decision, and that they will know how to officiate your wedding. If you are the friend or family member asked to officiate, if you need any extra assistance we do offer ceremony consulting.
Where you plan on getting married will also be a factor when it comes to choosing an officiant:
- A civil union at the local courthouse (judge or county clerk) - A church wedding (your local pastor, priest or other clergy member. Friends, family and professionals are not typically allowed to officiate at most churches). - A wedding at a venue such as a hotel, park or beach (professional wedding officiant recommended by your venue, your pastor, or asking a close friend or family member to officiate your wedding).
Just like with any major event in life, it's best to do your research before making any final decisions. On this site, we would like to provide you with guidance, especially when it comes to deciding to ask your friend or family member to officiate your wedding.
